Shaun R. Bonney

Mr. Bonney graduated in 1997 from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Idaho in 2001 and was a member of the Idaho Law Review.
Mr. Bonney is a member of the Idaho State Bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Idaho; and all courts in the States of Idaho. He also served with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals as an extern to the Honorable Judge T.G. Nelson
Areas of Practice: Mr. Bonney’s practice involves the representations of consumer and commercial creditor companies. Mr. Bonney provides comprehensive legal services in all aspects of civil litigation, risk management, and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, Mr. Bonney has extensive experience in providing assitance in Landlord/Tenant related claims and advising landlords regarding lease drafting, evictions, and fair housing claims. Mr. Bonney has tried over thirty cases with many complex matters. Some recent examples include:
- Multiple successful outcomes in consumer and commercial suits ranging from simple evictions to complex tenant related counterclaims.
- Numerous homeowners and business-related claims spanning the gamut of contract disputes to complex appellate practices.
In the area of litigation, Mr. Bonney has considerable experience representing individuals and business entities in a wide variety of legal matters, including disputes, relating to contract breaches, non-compete covenants, and landlord/tenant claims. Mr. Bonney’s past experience includes:
- Landlord/Tenant decision requiring Tenants to provide Landlord’s with pre-suit notices and opportunity to cure.
- Successful resolution of post-judgment claim of exemption trials requiring defendant to reimburse Plaintiff costs and attorney fees.
- Successfully handled over five thousand consumer and business litigation matters.
- Obtained numerous summary judgments on behalf of Landlords, including new issues of law which were upheld by the Idaho Court of Appeals.
Lectures and Presentations: Along with extensive litigation experience, Mr. Bonney is a frequent lecturer in the areas of collections and landlord/tenant law. He has been requested to speak to, among others, the South West Association of NARPM.
